George Milburn Royal Navy Trawler September 1917


Introduction

The George Milburn was a Royal Navy minesweeping trawler built in 1916. It was sunk by a mine from UC-42 one and a half miles south of Dunmore Point. 11 lives were lost. UC-42 was captained by Otto Heinrich Tornow at the time of the attach and this submarine was itself sunk off the coast of Cork on 10 September 1917 with all hands lost.
