Civil Records

Civil Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages commenced on 1st January 1864 in Ireland (registration of non-Roman Catholic marriages commenced on 1st April 1845).

These records are available from the General Register Office and the website has information on research at the General Register Office. If you already have enough information to correctly identify the certificate you require, you can order a copy of a certificate online from the health Service Executive.

You can also contact the Registrar, St. Joseph's Hospital, Dungarvan at 058-20900 or the Waterford City Civil Registration Services, Community Services, Cork Road, Waterford at 051-842824. However, if you do not have enough information to identify the correct certificate, you will need to arrange to search the indexes at the General Register Office, search online or engage a researcher to do so for you.
