Litter & Dumping

Litter is defined in the Litter Pollution Act, 1997 as “a substance or object, whether or not intended as waste that, when deposited in a place other than a litter receptacle or other place lawfully designated for the deposit, is or is likely to become unsightly, deleterious, nauseous or unsanitary, whether by itself or with any other such substance or object, and regardless of its size or volume or the extent of the deposit”.

Litter Management Plan 2021-2024
In accordance with the requirements of the Litter Pollution Acts 1997-2003, Waterford City & County Council propose to make the Waterford City & County Council Litter Management Plan 2021-2024.

A copy of the Draft Litter Management Plan 2021–2024 is available below or may be obtained free of charge by contacting Waterford City & County Council on 0761 10 2020. Written submissions in relation to the Draft Litter Management Plan 2021 – 2024 are invited and will be taken into consideration by the Council before the plan is made and implemented.

Please forward your submissions in writing to the Environment Dept., Waterford City & County Council, City Hall, The Mall, Waterford, or by email to Closing date for receipt of same is 4.00pm on the 11th January 2021. All submissions should be clearly marked “Draft Litter Management Plan 2021–2024”.
